Where Are The Studies Conducted?
Studies are conducted in the Clinical Study Division of the Wallace Skin Research Center (WSRC). WSRC is located at 5120 Goldleaf Circle, Suite 20-B, Los Angeles, CA 90056.
Dear fellow Doctor, Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Wallace and I have practiced dermatology since 1992. In 1993 I founded Wallace of Beverly Hills™, the branded aesthetic component of my practice, and in 1997 I initiated a clinical study division, today both of which are significant components of Wallace Skin Research Center. A native of Los Angeles, I attended UC Berkeley, Harvard Medical School, the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Oklahoma University. My internship, in General Surgery, graduate training in Dermatology and a fellowship in Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery were at the Charles Drew/M. L. King, Jr. Medical Center in Los Angeles. For the past 20 years I have been a member of the teaching staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In 2012 I served as the National Psoriasis Foundation Honorary Medical Chairman and I currently serve as the Congressional spokesman for the Foundation. Specifically, I am seeking participants for upcoming clinical trials for various skin conditions. The following are salient factors related to the trials.
“I am seeking your assistance by asking you to refer potential participants (patients) to participate in clinical studies. As you know participants are critical to help improve treatments today—and aid in the possible discovery of disease cures tomorrow.”
– Paul Wallace, M.D., M.P.A. –
** Not all studies provide compensation to the participants. Compensation information will be disclosed before any prospective participant accepts an invitation.
More than a billion people worldwide suffer from one or more skin conditions, approximately 210 million people suffer from psoriasis (10 million in the U.S.). Unfortunately, in many cases there is no cure treatment. However, controlling the symptoms and appearance are a direct result of clinical trial studies. Since 1997 the Clinical Studies Division of the Wallace Skin Research Center has been engaged in its mission to find safe and effective treatments, and sometimes cures. Wallace Skin Research Center has distinguished itself as a leader in dermatological clinical research studies in Southern California. We are proud to be one of the leading centers, specializing in bringing diversity to clinical studies. A high number of our participants are people of color, including persons of Asian, Black, Latino, and Middle Eastern descent. To achieve our mission, we rapidly pair study sponsors with prospective patients. Once selected, study participants play a key role in helping to develop new and effective treatments, appropriate dosing, and technology to inhibit, alleviate, and possibly eradicate psoriasis and other skin conditions that have plagued mankind for centuries.
If you are currently at least 18 years old and reside in Los Angeles County, you might qualify to participate. Each study has unique requirements, governed by the study’s objectives and federal law. Additional screening will help determine if you qualify. Apply to discover how you might be included in one or more upcoming studies.
Study sponsors include pharmaceutical companies, many of whom you already know including but not limited to: Abbott Lab, AbbVie, Allergan, Bristol-Meyers, Eli Lilly, Glaxo Smith Kline, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, and Pfizer just to name a few. The federal government through the National Institutes of Health also sponsors studies. These organizations regularly conduct clinical studies for various dermatological conditions ranging from acne to psoriasis. Each sponsor provides specific guidelines for each study, in accordance with federal regulations.
Because new medications are being introduced at record numbers, we are conducting studies on an ongoing basis. Although no patient can be in more than one study at a time, we conduct multiple studies concurrently. Participation in any given study might be limited or have specific timeframes to enroll. We encourage you to respond as quickly as possible to an invitation when you receive one.
